Car Donations Are Good for Everyone
Instead of writing a check to a favorite charity, many people decide that car donations are a better idea. Car donations allow the donor to enjoy a tax-deduction and know that their generosity will be benefiting organizations through their re-sale at auction or through scrap yards. A car being donated does not often have to be in running condition. Most agencies work with area towing companies to pick up donated vehicles free of charge, so the donor will have no out of pocket expenses. For most car donations, the car owner will need only to have the title to the vehicle available for the driver who picks up the donated vehicle. If a vehicle should sell at auction for more than the current $500 tax deduction, the charity will often alert the donor to take the larger tax deduction.
